The saddle is a key component connecting the tractor and semi-trailer, playing an important role in transmitting the longitudinal and braking forces between the semi-trailer saddle and the trailer. In addition, the saddle also bears the impact of various forms of motion such as starting, turning, and braking of the tractor. Its structure directly affects the operational safety of the entire system.

Classification of Saddles

According to the size of the traction pin, it is divided into 50 and 90 sizes, commonly known as 2 inch saddle and 3.5 inch saddle. Trailers used for ordinary road transportation are usually sufficient with 50 saddles, while 90 saddles are more commonly used in construction machinery transportation trailers and heavy-duty trailers.

In addition to the corresponding trailer traction pins, the two also have different heights when installed on the same tractor chassis. The height of the No. 50 saddle from the ground is smaller than that of the No. 90 saddle. Of course, the height of the trailer after coupling is also lower, resulting in better vehicle stability.

The No. 90 saddle has a stronger traction capacity and can tow semi trailers with a total weight of less than 100 tons, while the No. 50 saddle can only tow semi trailers with a total weight of less than 50 tons.
